Each year, we choose a local charity to support and, throughout the year, we make a donation to that charity for every chair that we sell. For 2020, we’ve chosen Annabel’s Angels – a local cancer charity which fundraises to help improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families living in Derby, as well as helping to support local cancer self-help groups and cancer associated initiatives in Derby.
What is Annabel’s Angels all about?
Annabel’s Angels was set up in the name and in memory of Annabel Hancox who fought breast cancer and sadly lost her battle on 28th December 2012. Following her diagnosis shortly before her 40th birthday in April 2012, Annabel reached out to other women via online forums and groups. After her death, her friends and family received many messages and it became apparent that the support and friendship she’d been able to offer via these groups had been invaluable to others. Many people benefitted from her kindness and, despite everything she was going through herself, her generous and thoughtful nature touched many people. Annabel’s Angels was set up to enable this to continue in her honour.
Why did we choose to support Annabel’s Angels?
Not only is Annabel’s Angels a wonderful charity which makes a huge difference to the lives of many people in Derby living with cancer, but we also have a very personal reason for supporting this charity – Annabel was our son Fred’s Godmother. We know first-hand what an amazing person she was and we’re proud to be able to offer our support to Annabel’s Angels, helping her legacy to live on. Through the work of the charity, Annabel is able to continue touching people’s lives at a time when they need it most.
How can you support Annabel’s Angels?
Each time a chair is purchased from Stuart Mobility we will automatically make a donation to Annabel’s Angels. By buying a chair you will be supporting the charity and, in turn, offering vital help to someone local whose life has been turned upside down by a cancer diagnosis.
If you’d like to do more, there are many other ways to support Annabel’s Angels – from taking part in running or cycling events to making a donation via their website. To find out more about Annabel’s Angels, the work that they do and other ways to support the charity, visit annabelsangels.co.uk.
