As part of our service, we offer free of charge seating assessments and, before purchasing a chair, we would highly recommend one of these to make sure that you’re buying the best chair for you. We’re not here just to sell products – our aim is to provide customers with a chair that will really make a difference to their health, wellbeing, comfort and independence; seating assessments are the best way to ensure we can fulfil this aim.
Our years of experience and in-depth product knowledge enable us to match a chair precisely to your needs and, if we don’t stock anything that’s just right, we can commission a ‘made to measure’ chair, built just for you.
Some seating assessments are carried out alongside a health professional such as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist and we are able to take chairs along to assist with these, in cases where they are supporting a patient for medical and health reasons either at home or in a care setting. Our extensive product knowledge complements the OT’s training to provide a fully rounded service.
For the majority of customers who are not under the care of an Occupational Therapist, our free of charge, at home or showroom seating assessments offer exactly what you need to find your perfect chair! Much like buying a new suit or a pair of shoes, the idea of a seating assessment is to find the correct ‘fit’ for you; this involves checking the height, depth and width of the chair, the arm height and back height, support for your back and trunk, the back style and cushion type for pressure management – there are a lot of variables to consider and each one will make a huge difference to the comfort, support and health benefits that the chair will provide.
There are also practical considerations such as the available space in your room and, of course, your taste and décor – the fabric and colour is also a very important decision! We want you to love everything about your chair.
Seating assessments can be carried out wherever it’s convenient – at our showroom by appointment or, for customers who are housebound or find travelling to us difficult, in the comfort of your own home; we can bring up to 3 different chairs for you to try. Before the appointment we’ll have a chat with you over the phone to establish a few details such as your height, weight, health conditions and, importantly, what you want and need from your chair, to enable us to bring an appropriate selection. We’ll also bring along a range of back and seat cushions as well as fabric swatches.
Once you’ve tried out the chairs and we’ve taken some measurements and discussed your thoughts on each one, we’ll take away all the information and provide you with a written quotation for the chair that will be best suited to your needs. This may be an ‘off the shelf’ product from our wide range, or we may recommend a ‘made to measure’ option, tailored to your individual needs.
Buying a rise and recline or healthcare chair is a very personal thing and they’re certainly not a ‘one size fits all’ product! Having a seating assessment before purchasing a chair helps you to obtain the maximum benefit from your investment, especially for those customers with more severe health concerns or progressive conditions which are likely to change over time.
Delivery and set up is always included in our price so, for no extra cost, we’ll deliver your perfect chair as soon as it’s available, set it up in situ and make sure that you’re 100% happy with how to operate it before leaving you to relax in comfort.
Of course, we are aware that many of our customers fall into the ‘vulnerable’ category for COVID-19 so, with safety at the forefront, all of our seating assessments and deliveries are carried out in accordance with government guidelines, following appropriate health and cleanliness protocols and employing all necessary PPE.
